November Happenings...

Okay, I know it's been a while. So there are a lot of pictures of our November excitement. There is our bi-annual trip to Elko, NV, our Christmas Tree, and Thanksgiving. Hope you enjoy the show!

This is a snap shot if one of the many tumble weeds that were running across the roads. It was a very windy trip to Elko and this guy was with us for a long time. It really was huge!!!

This is the Haines family ICE SKATING on a beaver pond up in Lamoille Canyon, NV. They had more fun then me. I'm not very stable on ice but I did go out and skate a little.

Nick and the beginning of our hike that was suppose to last 30 mins and was way longer than that.

I had to take a picture of my shoes. We left my hiking/waterproof shoes at home, so I had my skechers on. I might add that my feet might have been completely frozen, but they were dry! My skechers are special ones, but they kept my feet dry while hiking a very long hike.

And this is what I looked like.

I had a beanie, a scarf, a long sleeve shirt, a sweater, and my yellow shell. As far as the bottom, lets just say jeans don't keep you very warm and regular socks don't either. But when you husband leaves your warm socks and shoes at home, this is what you get!

The Tuesday two weeks before Thanksgiving, Nick and I went to cut down our Christmas tree. We went up by Frenchman's Lake In California. Nick wanted to get a 10 foot tree, and he didn't like my choice because it was the close one to the road, so we got a HUGE one. The tree before we cut it was 15 feet tall. We cut it at 12 and when we got home cut it to 10. We tied to tree to the top of Nick subi and lets just say that it was a very windy day! Needless to say, I had to roll down the window and hold onto one of the branches so that it wouldn't tip the car over (or lose the tree). Hey Nick was involved so it had to be an adventure!

Here it is with lights. We didn't decorate it until Thanksgiving.


We had Thanksgiving at our new house this year. It was just us and Nick's family. We had a great time just relaxing. We tried a new way to cook our turkey. Thanks to Martha Stewart and her magazine. Here's a picture of how it look after the 70 mins of cooing time.

Yes, it only took 70 mins to took. The white turkey was just as moist as the dark. It was Yummy!!!!! I also made homemade rolls and pumpkin pie. Nick made his mango pie, yummy carrots and some Parmesan green beans. He also cooked our turkey! If you want to recipe, let my know! I will always cook our turkey like this from now on. Let's see 70 mins versus 3-4 hours?

Why husbands should have more morning off.....

This morning Nick took the day off of work. More because he had a day he had to take before he lost it. Anyways, let's just say I'm not big on being pampered but every now and then is fun.

It started off by last night Nick took me to dinner. Then we went to a concert (one of his Cello students was in the youth symphony) and had a good time watching kids play their instruments. Plus, I got to sit with Nick, which never happens because he is usually playing his Cello when I go to concerts. This morning, Nick made me homemade waffles with chocolate chips! Which he brought for me in bed. Then we went and cut down our Christmas tree. After cutting it down, we decided to just put it up in our house. Then we went and bought a tree skirt.

Today, though it was cold and windy, was a great day to spend with my honey!

We aren't quite done but, it's looking amazing.

This first one is of Nick after he sanded, textured, and primed the wall. He is taping so that way we can paint the wall blue.

I'm holding up the wainscoting against the wall and the tile we picked out to see what it would look like. More to see if the tile would go with the rest of the bathroom.

We finished half of the floor so that way we could get up the wainscoting and paint it white.
Yes, the toilet is in the tub. We were to lazy to move it farther than we had to.

This is a picture of the vanity that we bought for way cheap at Costco. Hopefully we will have it in by the beginning of next week.

YEA!!!!!!

Our master bathroom should be done by tonight!!! We are excited because it is looking great and better than we thought it would. We'll post pictures soon. Nick is also thinking that we could move into our master bedroom by Christmas!! I'm so excited because it'll be bigger than the room we are in now. But it'll mean that we can finally empty out our garage and park in it!!! Until I take pictures, HAVE A GREAT DAY!!!!

A yearly tradition...

Every fall since Nick and I dated, we have always gone hiking to see the fall colors. We were going to wait until saturday but it was such a nice day today (and it was my first day off in 3 weeks) that we went hiking. We went this year to Whites Creek Canyon trail in south Reno near Mt. Rose. We had so much fun. Nick has a fly fishing pole that he brings every time we go hiking, and this trip was no different. But this time I decided to give it a try. I got lots of nibbles and only a few hooks!!! We were more interested in the creek and fish than the trees. Normal around this time the trees are turning colors. But this year a cold snap came early and so did the changing of the trees. So enjoy our little trip.

My first brook trout that actually stayed on the hook. You can't see it well because it was small. About the size from your thumb to your first finger (in an L shape).

The last and biggest fish that I caught!!! Nick was impressed.

Nick told me after I was done fishing that he was laughing the whole time. Mainly becuase I had so many bites but only 2 or 3 got hooked. We were a couple of little kids today while fishing. There was something fun/kid-like feeling when you are fishing and so excited becuase you are catching little fish. But then again, it is Nick and I and we are still little kids at heart!
